HOUSTON, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Newfield Exploration Company (NYSE: NFX) today announced the promotion of six members of its Leadership Group. The promotions were made during the Company's Board of Directors meeting, held yesterday in Houston.
"Today's promotions reflect the significant growth of Newfield and key individuals that made it happen," said David A. Trice, Chairman, President and CEO. "Newfield remains lean, with few layers of management between the oil and gas finders and our Leadership Group. However, diversification of our asset base requires the widening of responsibilities and today's changes allow us to better manage our growing operations."
David F. Schaible was promoted to Executive Vice President - Operations and Acquisitions. In addition to this role, he also serves on the Company's Board of Directors. Prior to this assignment, Schaible served as Vice President - Acquisitions and Development. Schaible was one of the founders of Newfield and has served in increasing roles of responsibility since 1989. He has been instrumental in screening and selecting the large acquisitions that have helped the Company diversify its asset base over the last four years.
Prior to joining Newfield, Schaible worked for Tenneco Oil Company. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Independent Petroleum Association of America. Schaible was graduated from Marietta College with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Elliott Pew was promoted to Executive Vice President - Exploration. In this capacity, he will be responsible for building, balancing and maintaining Newfield's exploration portfolio across all focus areas. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President - Exploration and was primarily responsible for leading Newfield's entry into the onshore Gulf Coast.
Prior to joining Newfield, Pew was Senior Vice President - Exploration with American Exploration. He is a member of the Houston Geological Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Society of Exploration Geophysicists. Pew holds a Bachelor's Degree in Geology from Franklin and Marshall College and a Master's Degree in Geology from The University of Texas.
Terry W. Rathert was promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Corporate Secretary. Prior to this role, he was Vice President, CFO and Corporate Secretary. Rathert was one of Newfield's founders and has served in increasing roles of responsibility since that time.
Prior to joining Newfield, Rathert was Director of Economic Planning & Analysis for Tenneco Oil Exploration and Production Company. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He also serves on Texas A&M University's Petroleum Engineering Department's Industry Board, the Mays Business School Finance Department Advisory Board and is a member of the Texas Southeast Region Board of Trustees for the Independent Producers Association of America. Rathert holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and completed The Management Program at Rice University.
Lee K. Boothby was promoted to Vice President - Mid-Continent. Prior to this promotion, he was President - Newfield Exploration Mid-Continent Inc. He manages the Company's office in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Boothby has been responsible for leading Newfield's growth in the Mid-Continent. His team developed several "resource plays" that have added hundreds of drilling locations to the Company's portfolio. From 1999-2001, Boothby was Managing Director - Newfield Exploration Australia Ltd. and managed the Company's operations in the Timor Sea (divested in 2003) from Perth, Australia.
Prior to joining Newfield in 1999, Boothby worked for Cockrell Oil Corporation, British Gas and Tenneco Oil Company. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of both the OIPA (Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association) & OERB (Oklahoma Energy Resources Board). Boothby holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University and an M.B.A. from Rice University.
George T. Dunn was promoted to Vice President - Gulf Coast. Prior to this promotion, he was General Manager - Gulf Coast. Dunn took over responsibility for the Gulf Coast effort in mid-2001 and led the integration of the Company's acquisition of EEX Corporation. Prior to managing Gulf Coast operations, Dunn was a team leader in the Gulf of Mexico division.
Prior to joining Newfield in 1992, Dunn was employed by Meridian Oil Company and Tenneco Oil Company. Dunn holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
Gary D. Packer was promoted to Vice President - Rocky Mountains from his previous position as General Manager - Rocky Mountains. He manages the Company's office in Denver, Colorado. Prior to managing the Company's new operations in the Rockies, he was Manager of Acquisitions and Development in the Gulf of Mexico and was instrumental in the success of the Company's Gulf operations. Packer joined the Company in 1995.
Prior to joining Newfield, Packer worked for Amerada Hess in both Rocky Mountain and Gulf of Mexico divisions. Prior to these roles, he worked for Tenneco Oil Company. He is a graduate of Penn State University and holds a degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.
