HOUSTON, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- David A. Trice has been named Joe B. Foster's successor as Chief Executive Officer of Newfield Exploration Company (NYSE: NFX) effective February 15, 2000 when Foster, 65, vacates that position as part of his retirement plans. Foster, a principal founder of Newfield, will continue as Chairman.
Trice, 51, has been serving as Newfield's President and Chief Operating Officer since May 1999. Prior to that time, he served as Vice President - Finance and International from May 1997-May 1998. Trice is one of the 23 original founders of Newfield and served as the Company's initial Chief Financial Officer from early 1989-1991.
Before rejoining Newfield, Trice served as President, CEO and Director of The Huffco Group from 1991-97 where he directed worldwide exploration operations. From 1980-89, Trice served as an officer for several companies owned by Roy M. Huffington, Inc.
Trice received a J.D. degree from Columbia University's School of Law (1973) and a B.A. in Managerial Science from Duke University (1970).
